COVID Protocol

Vaccinations Policy

CVMH is committed to providing your pet with a safe and healthy environment. To do so, we require written verification of vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian.

To expedite the check-in process, we strongly recommend all medical records be submitted prior to your pet’s arrival. The vaccine requirements below apply to any cat or dog visiting with us:

For Dogs:

  • DAP (Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvo)-Required Annually or Annual Titer
  • Rabies – Within label requirements (every 1 or 3 years)
  • Bordetella – Required Annually
  • Intestinal Parasite Exam – Required Annually

For Cats:

  • FVRCP (Feline Distemper) – Required Annually
  • Rabies – Within label requirements (every 1 or 3 years)
  • Feline Bordetella – Required Annually
  • Intestinal Parasite Exam – Required Annually

Medication refills:

In order to continue to serve you and your pet best, please allow a 24 hour notice on all medication refills. This is very important as all medications, even refills, must be reviewed and approved by a doctor. If you walk in to pick up a refill without calling or emailing 24 hours ahead of time, we may not be able to fill the medication immediately.

Medications may require an examination and/or a specific blood test(s) in order to be refilled.

Request can be made over-the-phone, via email, through your Pet Portal or our free App.

As always we strive to provide the best care for your pets and this policy will help us continue to do so.

Patient Arrival

Our staff makes every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits; however they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to properly restrain your pet. All dogs must be on a properly fitted leash and all cats should ideally be brought in cat carriers. Retractable leashes are discouraged.

Appointments

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, CVMH operates primarily by appointment. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client in a timely manner and ask all patients to arrive on time for their scheduled appointment.

Emergency cases will always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please bear with us if an emergency should arrive during your scheduled appointment time.

Work-in/Walk-in Appointments

Work-in/Walk-in appointments will be seen in the order of their arrival after scheduled appointments, unless it is an emergency.  A technician may triage your pet upon arrival to be sure they are stable. If your pet's condition is not of an urgent nature, you may be asked to make a regular appointment or drop your pet off to be examined.

Drop-off Appointments

“Drop-off” appointments are available, for your convenience.

A “drop off” appointment means you may bring your pet in for a visit and leave him/her in the care of our team, then pick-up at a scheduled discharge time. When leaving your pet with us, please allow an extra 10 minutes for the technician to check you in, go over questions/concerns, estimates, and sign paperwork.

For the safety of all animals in our care, as well as our CVMH team, we require that all vaccinations are current.

Admission is between 7:30am-9am. After your pet is examined, one of our team members will give you a call to go over a medical care treatment plan and setup a dismissal appointment. During dismissal, our staff will go over in detail the exam findings, medications, and post-visit instructions.

Parasite Free Environment

CVMH is dedicated to keeping our patient’s flea/tick & parasite free. Any pet that is found to have parasites will be treated at the owner’s expense.

Surgical Care

We recommend your pet be brought in and checked-in the night before their scheduled surgical procedure to allow proper pre-surgical care. This is beneficial for several reasons:

  • Allows your pet to become accustomed to the hospital surroundings
  • Ensures that food and water have been restricted appropriately
  • Lets our staff perform a pre-surgical exam
  • Ensures pre-operative blood work has been completed and reviewed
  • Checking in the night before is at No Charge

All elective surgery patients will be given a specific check-in time.

If you elect to not drop your pet off the night before, please observe the following guidelines:

  • Arrive on time to check in at your pet’s specified admission time.
  • Please reserve about 10 minutes to check in with a technician. During the admission process our staff will go over paperwork, answer questions/concerns, go over your pet’s estimate, and explain the procedure to you.
  • Ensure your pet receives no food after 8 PM the night before admission.
  • Access to water should be permitted.
